Pinterest day!

Hey everyone! If you've been following me on Pinterest, you've probably noticed all the DIY stuff I've pinned. Well this weekend, my mom, my mom-in-law, and I, put two to the test! We saw this and this on pinterest and decided to take a crack at it and they turned out great!

One project was wrapping twine around a vase. The other was to take rubber bands, wrap them around the vase, spray paint, then remove the rubberbands.

Laundry Redo!!

First off, lets go back over a year ago, when the laundry room looked like this....

Then we painted, put up a cabinet, and got a new washer and dryer.

Then it stayed like that for awhile.

Then came my drawing at chilis.... :)

Which then evolved to my dad's much more precise and accurate drawing.

And then turned into this!!
The cabinet was actually built by my dad for the house I grew up in. They
recently upgraded and were going to throw it away. I thought
it'd be nice to have a piece of furniture that was once in the house
I grew up in. So with a little white paint and new hardware, it looks
brand new!

The sink. I wanted the farmhouse look, so we went with Ikea's DOMSJÖ sink.

The counter top. After searching pinterest for months, I found that I really loved
the look of butcher block, so naturally we went with Ikeas NUMERÄR in oak.

The shelf toward the back was hand made and stained by my dad, Steve, and Steve's dad.
It serves two purposes, covering the hoses and outlet for the washer and dryer,
and extra shelving (its also removable so when we do need to reach the outlet or
hoses).

The cubbies were also hand built by my dad, Steve, and his Dad (also named Steve :).

The curtain was made by my mom :). We bought the fabric from Joann's.

Whats behind the curtain you ask? It's actually hiding the litter box!! Jerry
has had no problem sneaking his way back there to do his deed.
Here are some shots of the whole process.

What a great team!!

But wait!!! Something is missing isn't it?

We are purchasing the faucet online because it is much cheaper. We are
going with this beauty.

I thought I'd throw in some bonus pics of other updates we've made.

Laying it out....

I decided to cut out pieces of paper in the size of the Ikea frames and lay them out on the wall going up the stairs. I have decided that the frames would not only frame pictures, but interests that both steve and I have. In searching for images I came across these amazing movie posters that would look great in the frames I choose for my interests.

There are certain movies that mean a great deal to me, for which I cannot explain to you why. They touch me in a very deep and emotional way, and I feel that displaying that in our home would be a perfect way to add a personal touch.

Shown is how I plan on displaying the frames:

Here are some of the posters I came across in my search:

And if you haven't seen Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind.. see it. The underlying message really made me think.. in a good way

Here's one of my favorite parts of the movie...

New Happenings

We've made a few changes to the house but not many. Our main concern right now is to add to our master bedroom.

First change is our new lamps we got from homegoods. It took me awhile to pick some out because of price. I finally found these for a decent price!

New pillow from West Elm on sale.

New Shell bowl to home random jewelry, and glass casing.

Also from West Elm, these shelves were half off.

Out on the porch, a new table runner, lantern, candle, and hanging lanterns from Crate & Barrel.

Succulents :)

New pot from Home Goods.
