Happy Thanksgiving / Dining Room Reveal!!

First off.. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are so thankful for everything we have, including our beautiful home that we are having so much fun making our own. This year we are hosting our first Thanksgiving! This was our excuse to complete our dining room.

Well... almost! We still want to paint the entire room in a shade a little lighter than the current color. Also we will be removing the burgundy window treatment and replacing them with patterned curtains that I have yet to pick out. The chandelier was a pain to put up but it was definitely worth it! Each one of those strains was wrapped in plastic and tapped. Below is a picture of me carefully unwrapping them. It took me about an hour and a half! I am still playing with the placement of everything but here is what we have so far.

This is our set up for Thanksgiving.

Dining room Sneak Peak two

My mom and I spent our evening at West Elm. I had a few gift cards for my birthday so I thought I'd use them for things for our dining room. After spending about an hour or so, oooooing and awweeeinnng, I narrowed down my shopping cart to the following things.

We're still in the process of putting the ikea furniture together so bare with us for pictures of the final reveal. Our goal is to get everything done before thanksgiving - minus painting the room, that will have to wait.

Went with the grey-brown ones

I chose the owl - Gift from mom :)

You can never have too many vases

Oil & Vinager dispensers - Another gift from mom :)

I hope you guys are enjoying my posts, and anticipating the dining room reveal!!

Dining Room Sneak Peak.

Hey everyone,
We are in the process of doing our dining room. I won't say redo because technically this is our first! We have narrowed down a color for the walls and have purchased our dining room set and chandelier. I have attached a photo of the chandelier for a teaser ;). Check back for more updates!

Apron meals by Publix

I am not much of a cook, in fact, I rarely do. When I do decide to cook I usually am reaching for my Publix Apron Meals Cookbook. Wow, how much does that sound like an advertisement?? Oh well, its true. They are very simple and delicious!! Last night I made Dijon Thyme Pork. 30 minutes!!

Sometimes I wonder.....

Who's reading? Or am I sending these posts out into the void. As the great Meg Ryan once said in You've Got Mail, "So good night, dear void."

p.s. Please comment if you're reading, and/or if you enjoy my posts!

Britday

Walking into working this morning I spotted this amazing print at a co-worker's desk that she got from Target. When I got back from lunch it magically appeared at my desk :).

I guess I had ooed and aweed over it so much, it gave two of my other co-workers a birthday gift idea. Thank you so much to Melissa and Elizabeth for surprising me for "Brit-day." You guys rock!

Minor Re-do's

So the next room(s) on our list are the dining room and currently the laundry room. I decided last minute this weekend I would start painting the laundry room. I had some "Gentle Tide by Glidden" leftover from the office, and since we love the color so much, I decided why not have it in the laundry room; maybe it will make me want to be in there more often :insert wink here:. So far I have one wall done along with some "cut in" work on the others. During my lunch hour I picked up the following "goodies."

Hardware for the cabinets going up soon
New rug from Target

Replaced ugly gold door stopper with this simple bronze one from home depot.

It's coming along well, and after we get a new washer and dryer, things will move along nicely.

Wood floors in a Kitchen? Pros vs Cons

When I think of my dream kitchen, I can't seem to convince myself to NOT have hardwood floors. I've been advised against it so many times, but I can't helpful myself, I droll over pictures of beautiful dark hardwoods floors like in this GORGEOUS kitchen in my previous post.

So I thought why not have hardwood floors in a kitchen? Is there a difference being in Florida with the humidity, etc. Thoughts, comments, advice????
